Dr. Cassandra McKenzie

Dr. Cassandra McKenzie has been passionate about dentistry from a young age. Her father was the local dentist for a rural Kansas community, and she grew up helping in his office. She has maintained this enthusiasm while pursuing advanced training and education to provide her patients with the comprehensive care they deserve.

“Periodontics is such a special area in dentistry. We start with health as a foundation to build beautiful smiles. I love helping my patients find their own path to achieve their goals.”

Dr. McKenzie completed her dental training at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she graduated as part of a select national dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. In addition to excelling in academics, she also volunteered in the first student run clinic providing free dental care for people transitioning out of homelessness and conducted peer-reviewed published research studies.

After being accepted to all residency programs to which she applied, Dr. McKenzie decided to settle down in Kansas City. She completed her Certificate of Periodontics and second master’s degree at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. She is Board Certified in Periodontology and Implant Surgery. She has also trained to provide Botox® for bruxism and orofacial pain through the American Academy of Facial Esthetics.

Dedicated to maintaining excellence in dentistry, she has been elected to the board of the Midwest Society of Periodontology which encompasses 11 states and two Canadian provinces, serves as a delegate for the Missouri Dental Association, and was selected to the prestigious American Academy of Periodontology’s Leadership, Engagement, Action, and Development (LEAD) Program which identifies and encourages emerging leaders in the profession.

Dr. McKenzie remains active in education. Prior to dental school, she taught middle science in inner city Baltimore as part of Teach For America where she simultaneously earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins. She has provided hundreds of hours of continuing education for dentists and hygienists.

When she is not in the office, this “gum gal” can be found losing at princess monopoly to her daughters, Millie and Alice. She and her husband Kevin enjoy the fresh air, hiking with their dog Jasper, and swimming with their girls. Dr. McKenzie is avid about needlework, particularly embroidering microbes, as well as collecting dinosaur teeth and terrible jokes.

Dr. Trey

Dr. Amon “Trey” Holt

Dr. Amon “Trey” Holt is a native of Arkansas and grew up in the Ozarks. He has lived in the Greater Kansas City Area since 2007. Like most aspiring dentists from Arkansas, he had planned to attend the University of Tennessee-Memphis School of Dentistry and was accepted there during his senior year of college. However, after travelling to Kansas City for the first time to visit family, he fell in love with the area and knew that Kansas City was somewhere he could call home. As it was already too late to apply to UMKC that year, Dr. Holt declined his acceptance at UT-Memphis and moved to Kansas City, where he worked for a year as a researcher in the Genetics Department at Children’s Mercy Hospital.

Dr. Holt received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He received multiple honors including the William S. Kramer Award of Excellence as well as the Dean’s Academic Distinction Award (given to the highest-ranking member of his graduating class) and was a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society. He then completed a two-and-a-half-year residency in Periodontics at UMKC before entering private practice. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and has been a member of multiple organizations including the American Dental Association, the Kansas Dental Association, the Mo-Kan Society of Periodontics, and the American Academy of Periodontology. Dr. Holt is also a contributing author on five scientific publications.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Holt enjoys spending time with his wife, Alisha, his children, Logan, Lincoln and Harper, and his dog, Moose. He is an avid sports fan, and loves following the Royals, Chiefs, Jayhawks, the Arkansas Razorbacks, and his children’s sports teams. He and his wife love to travel (especially to the beach as well as back home to Arkansas). He is also a huge music geek and loves going to concerts, including anything from hard rock to folk music.
